Two years ago,
my best friend moved to Chicago.
my best friend moved to Chicago.

I currently (and at times begrudgingly)
live in Washington, DC.
live in Washington, DC.
(That's 703 miles between us.)
And while his move devastated me (he paid me to say that), we've managed to keep our friendship strong. We both put a put a great deal of work into it. We visit one another, we do the phone thing, and thanks to the internet (and the convieniece of gmail) we chat our brains out.
Here is an example as to why he and I are uniquely suited to be friends:
Matthew: miss your black ass
me: i miss your jew face
Matthew: *rubs jew face in natasha's black ass*
me: *babies fly out and dance to bjork*
Matthew: *peace and harmony flourish. jesus, buddha, mohammed, and some jewish messiah come down and join the babies in their dance*
me: *for some reason the lead singer of smashing pumpkins is break dancing while the ghost of Ariel Sharon is beat boxing*
Matthew: *the KKK and the Black Panthers line dance together*
me: *Shirley Temple orders a shirley temple, as the gang from What's Happening plays checkers with Beatles, and Eli Wiesel is in the recording booth with Biggie Smalls*
Matthew: *a jar of peanut butter is elected president of the WORLD and Selma Hayek clones herself so everyone can get a piece of her*
me: *there is finally peace on earth*
A great friendship (or any relationship for that matter) is defined by how much you play. How much you play, and race jokes.

Correction. In our original conversation you wrote, "Finally there is piece on earth", far more accidentally brilliant and funny than "peace on earth."
