Oh my God she's good. I have full album now, Fortress Around My Heart, and I can't get enough. The whole thing is fantastic and there truly isn't a cut that I don't like - totally rare.
This is, "Drive Away My Heart."
My favorite part is when she cuddles a life size version of her own heart.
In addition to awesome upbeat tracks like "I Like You So Much Better When You're Naked," there's also brilliant ballads like, "See Me Through." There isn't a video for it yet, but here are the lyrics to whet your appetite.
See Me Through
Ida Maria
Oh God, now when's the time for me?
Oh when will you see me through?
Oh God, my mind is eating my heart out.
Oh God, my heart is beating my mind out.
Oh...
Oh God, I can't believe in you, just because I'm afraid you're true.
Oh God, I can't believe in you, just because I'm afraid you're true.
Oh God, now when's the time for me?
Oh, when will you see me through?
Oh God, I can't believe in you just because I'm afraid you're true.
Oh God, I can't believe in you just because I'm afraid you're true.
Oh God, I can't believe in you just because I'm afraid you're true.
Oh God, I can't believe in you just because I'm afraid you're true.
Oh God, I can't believe in you just because I'm afraid you're true.
Oh God, I can't believe in you just because I'm afraid you're true.
Slow, simple and beautifully sung. There's just so much raw, gritty emotion in her voice (very Joplin). There are also pretty strings on the track and I love me some strings, especially pretty ones.
Finally, there's the track that I have had on repeat the last few days, "Queen of the World." It's genius, if for only the first line of the chorus: "I'm queen of the world. I bump into things."
Get it and go forth and rawk.
