Today I've been opening my door to strangers, thanks to Craigslist. I've completed one sale, and I stand to sell everything else before I move. (Knock on wood).
The awesome thing about Craigslist Sales is the "reveal." When folks come to check out an item, they see the seller and the item for the first time. In an ideal situation, both the seller and the item meet your expectations.
There are few things that I get more joy from than watching someones face as they realize that the person that they've been talking to/emailing is actually black. Twice today, the men that came by to check out my goods, looked at me when I opened the door and tilted their head to the side and slightly smiled as if to congratulate me on successfully tricking them.
"Hi, I'm Jon."
Subtext: Well played.
"Hi, I'm Natasha."
Subtext: Believe it.
I can't WAIT to get to Japan.
"Hi, I'm Miki."
Subtext: Holy mother go God.
"Hi, I'm Natasha."
Subtext: Damn, I should have said Oprah.
